Publication Policy: Open Access
The Human Geography Research Quarterly (HGR) was published in 1968 as a supplement to the Journal of the Faculty of Literature and Humanities, and then in the Institute of Geography until issue 20 under the title of Geographic Reports, and then under the title of Geographical Research until issue 44. From issue 65 onwards, in 2006, due to specialization, it was published in two publications under the titles of Human Geography Research and Natural Geography Research, and so far 123 issues have been published until the summer of 2024.
The Human Geography Research Quarterly (HGR), which belongs to the Institute of Geography, Faculty of Geography, University of Tehran and is published by the University of Tehran Press, has based its philosophy on the principle that all research should serve humanity. Research, as a product of society’s investment, should be returned to all individuals without borders or discrimination and be served by society in a transparent and global manner. For this reason, the journal makes all of its research articles freely available online. Since the majority of the publication costs are covered by the University of Tehran, readers can easily download and share the articles with others.

The Policy of Screening for Plagiarism |
At least two independent reviewers will examine each manuscript submitted to the journal for publication. All manuscripts sent to the journal for publication will be checked for plagiarism before being sent to the reviewers. The journal has a zero-tolerance policy for plagiarism. |
Retraction Policy |
An article may be retracted when its findings are no longer considered trustworthy due to scientific misconduct or error, it plagiarizes previously published work, or it is found to violate ethical guidelines. An article may be retracted when the integrity of the published work is substantially undermined owing to errors in the conduct, analysis, and/or reporting of the research. Violation of publication or research ethics may also result in a study’s retraction. The original paper will be marked as RETRACTED but a PDF version remains available to readers, and the RETRACTION statement is bi-directionally linked to the original published paper. Retraction statements will typically include a statement of assent or dissent from the authors. |
Complaint Process |
The authors have the right to complain and ask explanation if they perceive any misconduct in any applicable policies and ethical guidelines. The authors can raise their complaints by submitting a letter to the Journal Email. We follow the COPE guidelines on responding to whistleblowers, which includes protecting anonymity. All the complaints regarding delinquencies in the work processes are investigated according to the prevailing publication ethics practices. An author or any other scholar may submit their complaints about any issues related to: - Authorship issues; - Bias in the review process; - Copyright violation; - Deceiving in research results or wrong research results; - Manuscript processing time is unusually late; - Plagiarism; - The peer-review comments are unsatisfactory; - Unrevealed conflicts of interest; and - Violations of research ethics and integrity. |
Policy for Dealing with Complaints |
Once a complaint is received, at first, an acknowledgement is sent to the complainant with the assurance that appropriate action will be taken on a complaint within three working days excluding the complaint receiving date. The investigation process is initiated by the journal handling team according to the directions of the Editor-In-Chief. After the investigation is over, a meeting is held with a complete report on the complaint. The decision has been made and the same is forwarded to the concerned scholar through his/her submitted email ID. We consider complaints as an opportunity to enhance our existing Manuscript Processing System. All the received complaints are dealt with in a polite and timely manner with certainty. |

Revenue Sources |
As the Center of Excellence in Human Geography Research Quarterly, Institute of Geography, University of Tehran has supported most of the publishing costs of the Human Geography Research Quarterly (HGR), article processing charge in the journal is limited for authors. Therefore, publishing an article in the Journal requires a publication fee, of 6.000.000 Rials which will be billed to the submitting author following the acceptance of an article for publication. Apart from this Article Process Charge, there are no submission charges, page charges, or colour charges. |

Under Bethesda Statement on Open Access Publishing (June 20, 2003), the Journal of Urban Tourism (JUT), is fully open access, by publishing its articles under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International (CC BY-NC 4.0). Authors retain the copyright of their work and can deposit their publication in any repository. This means that articles can be freely redistributed and reused by the author and others as long as the article is properly cited. Published articles in the Journal can be deposited immediately into an online repository or social network without any cost. The Journal articles can be emailed to colleagues, printed, archived in a collection, included in course packs, and distributed without restrictions. Authorship |
The journal adheres that authorship be based on the following 4 criteria: · Substantial contributions to the conception or design of the work; or the acquisition, analysis, or interpretation of data for the work; AND · Drafting the work or revising it critically for important intellectual content; AND · Final approval of the version to be published; AND · Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work in ensuring that questions related to the accuracy or integrity of any part of the work are appropriately investigated and resolved. The consent of all authors, as well as related authorities/institutions, has been received before the submission of the manuscript. The order of the authors (as to be reflected in the published article) has been established. The adding or deleting of authors once the manuscript has been accepted for publication would have to be accompanied by a signed statement of consent from all authors. All authors have contributed significantly to the research. Authors are obligated to participate in the peer review process, providing retractions/corrections/amendments when necessary. All conflicts of interest/financial support have been declared. Any changes or corrections to a published work require the consent of all authors. |
