Abstract

An Analysis of Globalization and its Impact on the Persian Gulf Countries

Abstract

Globalization has emerged as one of the most significant and impactful phenomena of the modern era in current century. The emergence of globalization presents both challenges and opportunities for the strategic region of Gulf countries. These countries navigate through a range of security, political, economic, and cultural complexities in response to this global phenomenon. The Middle East, with its substantial oil and gas reserves, holds a prominent geoeconomic and geopolitical position, attracting the attention of major trans-regional powers. This strategic significance and abundant resources have resulted in the involvement of these powers across multiple dimensions within the region, giving rise to regional challenges. Additionally, despite its unique geopolitical characteristics in relation to its neighboring regions, the Middle East faces increasing complexities in dealing with the process of globalization. This research utilizes a descriptive-analytical approach on various sources such as libraries, archives, the internet, and reputable international websites, as well as questionnaires, to investigate the diverse dimensions of globalization in the Persian Gulf region. The findings reveal that the countries in this region have experienced the impacts of globalization across security, political, cultural, and economic domains. Globalization presents both favorable opportunities for national development and potential threats to the cultural, identity, and social systems of these countries. To address these challenges, the countries in the region can adopt a complementary approach, fostering unity and convergence. This approach can pave the way for scientific development, increased income and wealth, a dynamic economy with relative prosperity, and most crucially the establishment of security and comfort in the Persian Gulf region.

Globalization is a concept that has happened in the current world with great acceleration and is evolving every day. In order to survive in the current position and also to move towards higher ranks on the one hand and to achieve more benefits on the other hand, the great powers try to engage in a political competition and their economic, political, cultural and military development. The process of world development and globalization is mostly based on the economy, which can mean opening the doors of countries and their borders for trade and commerce. The increasing speed of globalization is in accordance with the progress of modern technologies and moves and changes in line with it. According to many, there is no border in the current world that can cause non-trade. With the development of the process of globalization, borders have become less valid and business has developed more in the virtual space. Now, in this space, what will be the position of the countries of the Persian Gulf region, which have human, economic and fossil reserves, etc. for the development process? On the other hand, the growth of technology and the speed of development of economic relations have had a significant impact on social, cultural, political and even military issues.Cultural inductions due to stunning advertisements increase consumerism and ultimately develop economic relations. On the other hand, the development of the tourism industry will lead to the prosperity of the business and trade market, transportation, the development of free zones, special zones and border bazaars, the increase of consumables and edible goods, which will ultimately increase the national income. . Although the oil economy and oil revenues have led to economic development in the Persian Gulf, on the other hand, it has increased the competition of powers and the spread of militarism in the Persian Gulf, and as a very important factor, it has prevented the formation of regionalism among the countries of the Persian Gulf.Globalization is a broad and multi-process phenomenon that has affected globally and in all parts of the world, including the Persian Gulf region. In the Persian Gulf region, globalization has caused significant changes in economy, culture, politics and communication. One of the important effects of globalization in the Persian Gulf region is the increase in trade and economic growth. The opening of markets, the facilitation of traffic and the movement of investments, has brought significant growth in the export, tourism, service and industry sectors. Also, globalization in the Persian Gulf region has expanded communication and cultural exchanges.

Many communities in this region are being influenced by global cultures and are adopting new ways of thinking and living. Also, globalization in the Persian Gulf region has played an important role in the political changes of the region. Some countries in the region have tried to increase their power and capability by making political and economic changes in line with globalization. Therefore, it can be said that globalization in the Persian Gulf region has had important effects in economy, culture, politics and communication. However, these effects may vary among countries and communities in the region and include both positive and negative effects. In the current research, it has been tried to investigate different dimensions of globalization in the Persian Gulf region and the impact of these dimensions on this region by using research tools including questionnaires and using computational methods. In this research, we have tried to address this issue by posing questions, and finally, by examining the research hypotheses and drawing conclusions from the quantitative information studied, we will reach suggestions and solutions.Below are the hypotheses and the main question of this research:

The first hypothesis: "It seems that due to the global developments, the process of globalization has many positive and negative effects in the political, economic, cultural and security fields on the Persian Gulf region".

The second hypothesis: "It seems that the economic dimension of globalization has more effects on the Persian Gulf compared to its other dimensions."

The third hypothesis: "It seems that considering the political, security, economic and cultural capacities of the region, the countries of the Persian Gulf can properly take advantage of the positive effects of globalization and its negative effects by creating a regional integration. reduce".
